MORE AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR EDINBURGH
Edinburgh’s housing leader has welcomed an announcement from the Scottish Government that will lead to 645 new affordable homes being built in the capital.

Councillor Paul Edie was speaking as a package of measures was announced for more affordable homes in Scotland.

The City of Edinburgh Council and housing associations will receive the cash boost from the Scottish Government’s Innovation and Investment Fund which was announced today (September 15).

Additional money from the fund will lead to 594 new housing association homes being built on various sites across the city.

The £1.5m in funding that the Council will receive will be used to build new council homes at Fort House and Greendykes.

Cllr Edie said: “We welcome this additional investment from the Scottish Government in the city. It’s good news for both housing associations and Council house building and even better news for people who need a home.”
